Deepening our understanding of covenants

         The new and everlasting covenant encompasses all our promises from Jesus Christ. What could be more exciting than what Christ has in store for us?!

        Sharla Goettl is the author of Spiritual Resilience: Leading Our Youth to Go and Do, and she has just published her second book entitled Covenant Power! She serves as an early-morning seminary teacher, and ordinance worker at the Portland Oregon Temple. These opportunities bring me a great deal of inspiration, motivation, and revelation.

          When asked about the themes in her new book, she stated, "My covenants bring me a great deal of confidence, making me less afraid and more successful. The endowment is God’s masterclass on godliness. It teaches the principles and attributes necessary for Heavenly Father to share His power with us."

"The law of obedience promises me fairness and respect. The law of sacrifice promises me only what is better than I already have. The law of the gospel promises me enduring love. The law of chastity promises me increased power. The law of consecration promises me all that our Heavenly Father has."

She continued, "Covenant joy is everlasting because God’s promises cannot be taken away from me by anyone’s actions but my own. There is little I can control, but I can control my spiritual success through my covenants. This solid security makes me feel safe, confident and ambitious."

Sharla owns a residential construction business with her husband, and has raised three young-adult daughters. She loves to travel as a family.
